Guest Shining Rock
i'm guessing i have to download absynth? apparently it's expensive another question: like i said ive only really used reason, ableton a little bit, and im thinking renoise might be kinda cool, but like how do you automate vst's? like in reason i can automate a knob or w/e to turn when i want it too, i have no idea how to get that capability out of vst's so lots of people agree absynth and this v-station is good? i'll try and get those, i was messing around with the minimoog for hours it's pretty awesome although the arpeggiator was kinda tricky to get working Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/7939-what-are-your-fav-vsts/#findComment-162183 Share on other sites
Guest boo
albino, korg legacy collection.. umm. absynth is a really good synth but not everything can be automated via a host, if that's important to you. i don't know about renoise, but most vst hosts allow you to automate all the parimeters on vstis, so read the instructions... Guest Promo
AudioRealism Bassline for the acid. Loopazoid as MPC style drum machine. AO DKL as a simple sample based drum machine. TBL Bassline quite reasonable. Kontact vst I don't tend to use a lot of VST 'cause my pc is pretty slow. But it depends on the host how to automate a VST. Most can do direct gui tweaking. Or you may have to map a CC of your controller to a parameter and record the CC messages. Guest Shining Rock
thanks alot everyone, you've illuminated my understanding on alot of this confusing stuff, i can't wait to try out some of these vst's... im curious though, i've tried re-wiring reason through ableton and using them both, would it be possible to play something through reason and put VST's on it in ableton and then record automation via the VST's in ableton acting on the sounds from reason? or would it not be able to record that, thanks, also i'm feeling pretty noobish but i'm pretty sure i'm not using my midi controller to the full extent of its capabilities, like i use it for basic stuff, fiddling around, assigning knobs, but i know i haven't even touched the surface as far as it's features go, and am unable to assign it to work in VST's it seems (i tried to assign a knob to some paramater on the excellent glitch vst but it wouldn't register) any help would be appreciated, thanks everyone for sharing in your vast knowledge Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/7939-what-are-your-fav-vsts/#findComment-163143 Share on other sites

Guest Iain C
I feel I gotta give a shout out to MicroDicer, the only rex-playing VST I've ever got along with: http://www.concretefx.com/MicroDicer.htm If it wasn't for this beauty I'd do all my breaks in audio. Things like Intakt may have more features but for speed and ease of use, I can't get enough of this one. So it's one of my fave VSTs and it's dead cheap too, only about £20.
