Turning Field Recordings into synths

Hello everybody. Recently I discovered this vid where the guy shows how he turned a field recording into pad using Ableton:

Im very interested in this type of thing, are you guys aware of similar or other techniques to create ambient pads or other interesting textures using Ableton or any other piece of software?

Layer your results with other sounds, so it'll be less obviously paulstretched ;-) .

Didn't watch the videos, sorry, but weird IR verbs can make some nice pad like sounds. I used TL Space all the time for that stuff.
