Cheap/free UK-to-US shipping

Every time I import records I get simply annihilated with shipping costs. It ends up making up like half the total purchase cost sometimes. I was wondering, hoping, perhaps even dreaming, if anyone knew of a website that would offer discounted or free international shipping for large orders? Any other tips for importing would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Can't you find a gap year / university student who is strapped for cash and who is willing to do you shopping for you and bring it home.

It could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Last time I had a package shipped from the US the bastards sprung the import tax on at the last minute. I've been very weary since. I don't think there is anything so cheap that it's worth shipping from abroad. Is this all stuff you can't find in dear old blighty?

Ha, I got the transaction the wrong way round. No GET AWAY - YOU CAN'T HAVE OUR PRECIOUS RECORDS!!!!

:doge: Jet fuel can't melt dank memes :doge:

My advice..

Don't order anything from another continent, it's too much a pain in the ass.

Buy in bulk, piecemeal will definitely drain your wallet. I try to stick to amazon uk and bleep.

I've been off Bleep since they completely screwed up my Tomorrow's Harvest order. I mostly use Discogs but yeah, shipping rates are ridiculous. I try to buy domestic whenever possible, but lots of things (Old Vibert, Squarepusher, etc.) you just never see for sale outside the UK.

Several importer sites used to be pretty good, (Isolation Tank, Forced Exposure) but have fallen in the stock they carry since music became free.

You think you have it bad? Try living in Canada where we get raped by shipping charges from both Europe AND the US. At least in the US it's dirt cheap to ship between states.

Anyways, I tend to order from redeyerecords.co.uk alot since their shipping prices are pretty amazing compared to most places.

Oh wow, thanks! Those rates are immensely better than anywhere else I've seen. And I hear ya about the Canada-to-US shipping. I live in Minnesota and sent an NES game to someone in Ontario - it cost like $11! It's like, "Come on - It's RIGHT THERE!" I could practically drive it there myself.
