IDM Fashion Icons

Although our "scene" operates on the cliche that it's all about the music, not the celebrity, these people do have to show up in person for such things as shows, or photo shoots. What electronic musicians have influenced your taste in fashion?

I used to think Tom Middleton wore some fly shit back in the 90s, but now he's all about hats, all the time. I admit Richard's anti-fashion stance had an impact on me, which explains the preponderance of olive and brown in my closet.

Anyone you think rocks the IDM scene these days visually? I didn't even think of females.

I've noticed Ae have donned The North Face in some of their photos, so I acted accordingly in the past. But these days necessity is a higher priority for me than fashion.

Very suave.

Andy is probably the only person legitimately silly enough to pull off his look without looking like a douchebag (see, eg, machinedrum).

Telefon Tel Aviv always looked kinda model shoot-ish, same with a lot of post-Detroit techno producers - Apparat, Richie Hawtin, Vladislav Delay, etc.

What I've always liked about many electronic producers is they simply dress like normal people or like they're work oriented: i.e. "let's wear hoodies and comfortable pants, it's field recording time." The better ones look good without looking like total shut-ins or something. And then guys like Ceephax look like they're always having fun.

What about squarepusher and the whole beard/neckbeard/ponytail business...?

Any takers on that? lol

I've been wearing gaudy green collared shirts and looking up more often since listening to Datach'i and Oval.

I usually dress in black or unbrigthly colors. I think it has to do with, well, when IDM and shit like that was a bit more 'underground', so I dressed in the less shiny and jazzy (used google traductor for that, lel) way, hence, black or colors not so bright... I still do it.

Ceephax is such a hipster, but in a good way.

I want to see more idm producers wearing suits though. I try to dress up a bit onstage, but I flail around a lot with my guitar so get kinda sweaty if I'm wearing a jacket.

I'm semi-seriously considering getting/making a cape to wear onstage.
