neighbors...

I just wanted to re-open that age old topic where we talk about our techniques regarding avoiding mayhem with the neighbors when we are trying to be creative.

lol, or just any old anecdotes about those fun times with them.

I consider myself lucky because I live in a small block of flats and the neighbours never complain, even when I record metal vocals / shred on guitar / listen to Kreator at 2am. They do make their own noise though which doesn't bother me too much.

I keep things turned way down when I mix. My ears are kind of fucked up so I really can't use headphones for anything.

It's good on one hand because its sometimes good to mix quiet, but frankly you need to be able to turn shit up at will which I Can't do.

I mainly use headphones, but my technique in grooming the neighbors has been; blasting bass heavy music from the beginning since they've moved in. This, so they know what to expect occasionally. It is a watered down ghetto anyway, with noise all throughout the day. If things would get to irritation levels, there are laws here on how loud you can have your music on what time, forgot the specifics, but if the police is called I think they have to measure the db at the door after giving multiple warnings first. I have my man-cave 3 stories up, so I think I'm save ;-) .
