this has been especially tricky for me, even after having 13 years of making music on the computer. i've discovered a lot of things during the process of making this most humble ersatz facsimile, and today i reflected a little on the experience, and i realize that there have been so many times in the past i've been lazy and satisfied with myself, and those were the anti-milestones that hold me back, since those attitudes are bogus.

im still astonished at how the original could have been created in the first place. i guess it must have been made with an assortment of software and those tracks probably mixed in a studio. i kept wishing i was still using sonic foundry acid to do the percussion sequencing, and eventually i started thinking about enya.

maybe i'll continue to hear new things.

well, i got them in time, but definitely not in tone for much of it. still a few things to teach myself. theres a crack and shuffle sound im still looking for around mid-song. i might be able to manually resynthesize the whole thing, but its that darn 'rendering' part that's a bitch ;)

I only ever listened/listen to this at 33rpm...wrong speed, right time-ing...just can't get my head around the 45rpm version at all...far too frantic.

As for how this sublime tune came to be, my take is maybe RDJ was like hella stoned one night after programming all of it, pitched it up and thought...HEY.

the tones of the instruments aren't there, everythings pretty approximate, but the note ons and note offs are all there pretty much. i'm still in there trying tweaking this trainwreck i've got going, but im also binding books, and doing visual art for a little exhibition too, so i'm taking my time but looking for growth and finding direction, namely with a genre of music that i enjoy other than classical.

Nice one man, one of my favourite afx tunes and you nailed it!
