I think the soundtrack is selected based on the developers taste instead of giving the game more realism, at least in musical/radio aspect.

yeah it is, Windowlicker is sort of a "rap music parody" and it's gonna be played in Radio Los Santos which is known as rap music staton. + AFX is second time featured in GTA series.

I don't think Rockstar chooses the music solely based on what THEY like. Of course they're not going to add something they think is total shit, but from what they've done in the past, they seem to pick music that fits the time and place of the game.

Also, unless the list I saw was false, Windowlicker is on Flying Lotus' channel, not Radio Los Santos.

If i remember correctly, i think ZTwig was on one of the GTA 4 expansions

ZTwig was in regular GTA 4 on "The Journey". Great station.

Autechre was in the expansions, Bike.

Z-Twig was in the main trailer of GTA IV. Rockstar love Mr. Twin.

I believe there were two Aphex track on GTA 4. Both from SAW II possibly. One with that really happy melody that sort of trips over itself with delay, and I can't remember the other offhand.

So, it's not on Los Santos but Flying Lotus his own station, as said above. Also Flying Lotus stated he tried to get a new exclusive Aphex track for this but failed :(

Yeah, that was stated in Steve Beckett's interview from 2009 or so? I believe he also said an Aphex album will be released áfter BoC, so there is still hope. Unless Joyrex has some new juicy info.
