Not bad, a few other sighs here and there but at least whoever wrote it put in their homework. One of the great things about ae is that you could easily give a 100 writer-fans this pseudo task and no two lists would be remotely similar.

Though it seems crass to complain, their lack of economy is arguably their greatest weakness, and even the most rabid fan wouldn’t disagree that their vast discography of eleven long studio albums and several album-length EPs could benefit from a trim.

Yea, I know every time I find music I like, I'm super angry when they have a large amount of music for me to.constantly reexport so no one album ever gets stale.

And it's always so frustrating to have such a reliable output, so that on the off chance I'm underwhelmed by one release, I never have to wait long to expect a fresh start

It says to use the keyboard keys to scroll through the article. How can I ever use a key when I'm in my bed with an iPad trying to read this piece of crap!?

Btw yesterday was the 19th anniversary of Anti EP, it could be the most important political release of the electronic music scene.

And yet here we are 19 years later, and repetitive beats are now a MASSIVE global business.

Thanks for the help, but the ipad is already out the window.

The CD of Tri Repetae was packaged with a sticker that claimed the release was “incomplete without surface noise”, while the record sleeve bore a sticker to the opposite effect: “complete with surface noise”.

Hardly the opposite effect, with both stickers affirming the same thing. :derp:

But leaving aside nitpicking arsiness, I'm proper tired of reading articles that mainly just describe the texture of the material. Anyone can and does talk about 'squelching' synths and 'sputtering' beats. Nevertheless, I learned a few new things (hadn't heard before that the Ae bros. allegedly felt Chiastic Slide to be inferior to Tri.) and he makes a couple of nice observations. Hope the piece draws in some new listeners.

She really tried when writing the article, at least. It wasn't painful to read and it made me go back and listen to a lot of the mentioned/featured tracks. Such as Stud and Teartear. In that regard, I think it was a really good article and not written for people already into Autechre, but more as a "here's this electronic act that's really great and here are some highlights along with why I think they are highlights."

Agree, it's a well thought out piece which often nails the best qualities of each part of their career. Clearly written by a fan. If you feel the need to joust over spelling errors knock yourself out.

Not sure if tapr or steels are going to convert new fans or send most potential 'chre neophytes running for the hills, but the article's otherwise a pretty good intro.

Yeah those choices were a bit perplexing. Steels is good, but nowhere near the top of the Quaristice game. And for me Tapr is in the 0.5% of Autechre tracks that, as the article declares, "could benefit from a trim".

Tapr has its place. About half the time I hear it out and scratchu my chin and say *hmmmyesss, interesting sounds. The other half I skip it because im too excited for Surripere
