In an attempt to learn myself some electronics skills & soldering & whatnot, i was planning to attempt to build a simple yet cool pedal/instrument/whatever. Now i know there are some kits you can order, or schema's available. But i was wondering if anyone has experience with something which might be interesting as a starting point for a n00b..?

Not sure if that's too pricey? Looks a convenient package though for the beginner.
