what machine is aphex using in UT1 - dot?

im talking about the weird vocal thing. i read a thread a long time ago on here in a thread Thanks Robert Moses had made, asking this exact same thing. i guess it turned out it is some rare machine that is impossible to find, but i cant remember nor can i find any info anywhere online

anyone know anything about it?

Nice find. I always liked SAM on the C64:

reminded me of the Intellevision voice cartridge, but I don't think that did actual speech synthesis like the Atari ST. It sounds more like some kind of low grade sampling

soniccharge permut8 has alternative SAM pseudo-firmware (along with other three DSP-firmwares, adventure game etc)
