That Weird Ominous Dude That Haunts the Woods of Switzerland

Recommended Posts

yeah thats a bit creepy

but i dont blame that guy for wanting to live in the woods away from... everything

According the article, aside from being somewhat unsettling in appearance he has never harmed anyone or shown aggression. It may be an odd lifestyle choice, but I say if he's not harming anyone or damaging anything let the guy be.

Looks like a total badass.

I'm sure the dude has wicked survivor skills/instincts

Yea.

To be honest though, that whole article kind of reads like a piece of viral marketing for some new horror movie or something. A gas mask? Starring at people for a moment and then turning around to walk away? I mean, if it's real that is hella cool, but I'm not sure.

I bet the guy's working on a solo acoustic indie folk album.

Probably some survivalist guy or mentally ill

Creepy but no harm done apparently. But if mentally ill then maybe he could be unstable if provoked

Reading the original piece in Le Matin, I get the feeling this is legit. Or at least that the sightings are real; it could just as well be some kind of in-joke where local kids dress up and scare people in the forest or something.

You know, I heard a woman on NPR years ago (probably around 7 or so years ago) say something like "We all feel the need to just run away and be away from everyone." And I thought to myself that that was a strange thing to feel. I thought maybe that's a selfish thought--what about your friends and family? I guess I was too young (but I really wasn't that young), because FUCK I think it every day now. To be just apart from it all; it doesn't seem so far-fetched to me anymore, that desire.

But it would be selfish of your friends and family to expect you to prioritize their hopes and dreams over your own hopes and dreams. So it's a wash. And people should just do whatever unobtrusive thing they need to do to feel happy in this life.

That Le Loyon fella does seem like a badass, if not a personal role model.

Hell, Switzerland itself seems like a badass country. I hear it's booby-trapped in case of foreign invasion, and everyone goes through mandatory military service and then takes their assault rifle with them afterwards and keeps it at home, yet gun-related violent crimes are almost non-existent compared to the US.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

"The strange man was found to have a Sony Walkman from the early 90s on his person, with a cassette labelled 'Autechre - Incunabula'. Swiss detectives are baffled as to why the man would be listening to such strange, out-dated music, and are appealing to the public for leads as to the cassette's origins."

'But since he arouses these fears, we are going to hold meeting to see if we can find a way of locating him, and discouraging him from behaving as he does.'

Tales of Le Loyon have been reported in the woods of Maules in western Switzerland for the past decade, apparently walking the same route every day.
