Aphex Twin - Popcorn

I just remembered this song exists.

Can anyone explain it to me? I half assumed it was a fake, like the prodigy remix and kickass violin solo tracks. but it's legitimate right?

even though it sounds very much like, the original popcorn track with a drum beat put on top and fed through a filter.

Popcorn and the R2D2 track were on the original Joyrex EP's but not on the compilation.

I've always wanted to rework this song because it was one of the only electronic tracks my father played for me as a child. Of course, the king almighty beat me to it. Probably many others have as well though.

I forgot it was a caustic window song!! i was searching discogs with aphex twin and getting pretty questionable results.

The fact that he also did Power-pill made it seem less dodgy, its really similar to me in terms of it's sound. Personally I always questioned "R2D2" as a legitimate track for far longer. Sounded to upbeat and clean I suppose.

I still find early RDJ tracks so interesting - I used to wonder more about those (especially Universal Indicator) and their production/conception far more than say, Drukqs.
