im having a serious clothing issue here. please help

Recommended Posts

ok, let me give you the lowdown. ive been struggling with jeans for several years now. i can almost never find a pair of good fitting jeans. ive been to countless stores, looked at so many jeans, tried so many on, and can never find a pair of jeans that fit me, in all aspects of comfort. so, the only luck ive had, has been finding random jeans in vintage and thrift clothing stores. sometimes i luck out and find a pair of jeans that are just absolutely perfect. this has happened maybe 3 or 4 times over the last few years.

anyway, the last time it happened, a few months ago, i was in a thrift shop, and found this pair of Vans jeans that are just perfect for my body. i cant describe how satisfied i am with the fit. easily the best of jeans ive ever worn in my entire life. im wearing them right now. unfortunately though, a few days ago, i noticed this little tear in the crotch area. it always happens on that spot. anyway, this tear has grown quite large over the last few days, i can stick my hand through it almost by now. so, im on my way to the tailor in a bit here to get these rare fitting pants repaired. i have to wear this other pair of pants that i dont like as much, as i walk downtown to the tailor.

now i ask you, what is a person to do? i cant find any new pants that fit me. i cant just keep shopping at thrift / vintage stores, finding a nice pair of jeans every 6 months or so. i simply cannot live like this anymore. the pair of jeans im ranting about, are Vans brand, "custom fit for you", it says on the inside. i think they are a 30 inch waistline. i went to the Vans website, fuck all for help there. ive googled it. im doomed. so the reason ive come to you today, is a cry for help. how can i find the exact pair of Vans jeans that im wearing now? if i could buy them new, i would buy like 10 pairs, i dont care how much money it will cost, i want this to be over so i can get on with my life.

please help

While some might enlist the help of a tailor in this situation, I would point you in another direction:

Buy trousers, jeans are for the help. The outdoor help.

I stopped wearing jeans a few years ago. You can look classier, spend less, and be more comfortable with "real" pants.

The only acceptable jeans to wear are acid wash as part of your complete new aesthetic outfit.

whatever you buy, make sure they're skinny.

Man, fuck that noise.

Whilst I have no objection to them in principal, this skinny jeans trend has fucked up jeans buying for the rest of us who don't wear them. As someone who is athletic and has fairly large quads, buying jeans over the last few years has become a nightmare, as even the regular sizes feel like they've shrunk somewhat (granted, my thighs have got bigger through training, but they're not so big that I need tailored clothes or anything). Buying baggy jeans used to be reasonably simple, but finding them now feels like it's becoming ever harder. I miss my old Gap worker/carpenter jeans that I had about 6 years ago like crazy, they were perfect.

Also, not sure if sarcy in the post I quoted..

why not find a taylor willing to replicate the pants

i asked the tailor if she could do this. she said yes. problem solved, finally...

Jody, I can relate: one of my favorite pairs of jeans was Vans brand and they tore too. Still haven't patched them up.

Do you live in the US? If so, check out old navy. I suppose GAP carries the same basic designs. I've had luck there, my current pair of jeans are from there. I usually only have one or two pairs of jeans though, lately I just wear grey or khaki colored pants as often.

Granted, I'm in a climate where cut-offs or shorts are preferable for casual wear for much of the year.

Skinny jeans are so over. Get some mossy oak patterned harem joggers or some jnco baggy cargo khakis.

edit: and a sweet hijab
