Only good songs IMO are (excluding dayvan cowboy) skyliner, under the coke sign, and left side drive. maybe my opinion will change, maybe this isn't real, but it sounds pretty official. plus, the dayvan remix has isolated sounds from the original so i take that as proof enough.

edit - actually, i take that back. after another listen through, all the songs are great. well, besides the remix. i don't really like it that much.

left side drive is amazing

Left Side Drive is very good, and I hope this is a sign of what's next with BOC. It sounds very similar to Kid For Today to me, like a heavily remixed version of the track, but it works very well. The two shorter tracks are kinda meh, very similar in melodic content to Left Side Drive, but lacking substance. Skyliner is ok, but not great. Still have yet to hear the Odd Nosdam remix.

On first listen, I like this much better than Campfire Headphase, but it is a bit short on new ideas. Still, happy to have the synths back, and glad there is at least one "wow" worthy track, which I thought was missing on the previous LP.

Quick Review

Left Hand Drive - heavy digital hip hop beats with touches of granular synthesis and reversed bass whomps. The melody is provided by a distant pad. The best part about this track is the beat, it has that tinny hat sound from Aquarius and it reminds me how much better BoC have got at producing their drums.

Heard From The Telegraph Lines - short interlude like A Moment Of Clarity or Ataronchronon from TCH. Cyclical repeating melody with a kind of choir pad with lots of smoky reverb.

Skyliner - Again lots of reversed sounds and trademark hip hop tom work on the drums. The melody is not yr usual smiley BoC fare, it has a kind of dark harsh feel that reminds me of Twoism. Nice squelshy analogue sounding synths as well.

Under the Coke Sign - What sounds like a field recording of a shopping district or something with minimalist synth chords on top. Very much like the short TCH tracks.

Odd Nosdam Rmx - I love this very much, sounds like youd expect it to, sort of like Dayvan Cowboy but stretched out and had Nosdams lo-fi fingerprints all over it. Very nice.

Overall a good release for me, very much designed to be listened to in one sitting like an album, and the tracks all have a similar dark harsh feel to them, with meandering minor key melodies slightly reminiscent of Twoism and bits of Geogaddi, but with the production techniques from TCH.

left side drive might be one of my favorite boc songs. i just wish there was more of that synth that comes in at the end. excellent

actually, the first 30 seconds of left side drive has reversed acoustic guitars.

heard from telegraph lines has an almost old tunes-y quality to it.
