Banksy hits NYC

So it looks like our favorite stencil tagger is in the US doing a "show" on the streets of NYC, sweet. I'd love to see him do Washington DC in the midst of this chaos, but if they caught him there, he'd probably be shot as a terrorist lol.

nothing wrong with his sense of humour and his method of delivery is to an high standard, i dont agree with painting the cow and especially the elephant. Sure you could remind me that they do it in india for festivals, my face stares back unmoved.

It's mind blowing how many graff artists better than Banksy are out there at the moment. Though I can appreciate how Banksy brought 'street art' to the mainstream.

The most talked about street artist here in Norway is a really poor Banksy rip off. People admire him like they never even heard of Banksy.

lol, yes! That never ceases to amaze me. Good on him for making a shitload of money off trendnissene, but come oooonnnnn. The media keep hyping him and never write about any other street artists, so there's always that. Pottitland.

Correct. It's all very well to go on and on about one person. But why is there not more talk about the many other artists who are out there? I mean seriously.

because the media doesnt like art .. it likes sport as a recreational viewing experience. If it talks about art its the stuff thats being shilled by the big gallery owners or collectors. A pointless and narrow gutter of human artistic endevour so vague in its experience that they can attribute any fashionable cultural diatribe to it. "Why look at this brown squiggle, the meaning of life the universe and everything is contained in it." .. "Oh very zen." .. "Feel the eminatimg feng shui." .. So those guys took a break from wearing their Elmo costumes in time square to do this eh. The children are safe for a few days.

What are the odds that the next banksy stencil features these guys blocking something. I'm sure his mind is all a muddle on how to play this though, heh. The artist that wants to be seen, and the political activist that wants to sympathise with the bum gangsters (don't kid yourself about these people, they'd be low grade neighbourhood tuffs that spend their lives making things annoying for everyone else that lives there.)
