hello ekt!

as usual, it's been a while since i've posted here (haven't released a new track since 2005). back in the joyrex.com days, i used to post here more than i posted in the general forum.. but things change.. anyway, i think i've finally come up with something worth sharing.

i definitely prefer some of your older stuff.... nice megadrive(sega genesis)-style FM though! this is a bit like a plone/old m83 crossover. but it's a bit forgettable. sorry to not be more positive about your first comeback track!!

that being said, i've said that about stuff before and then been made to eat my words after it's grown on me.

i'll give it some more listens.........

it's funny you say that because i can't get it out of my head ;p

but that's what happens when you listen to the same thing a few thousand times..

i enjoyed it; lovely melodies

nice melodies cm, felt a little too flourishy in parts. the sounds don't really do the programming justice - too plasticy and cheap sounding, but the programming is nice enough.

overall a happy vibe to this, but didn't sound like it deserved to if that makes sense.

not bad at all though - stands up to a second listen for sure.

when i try to play it i only get like five seconds of it... drums kick in, tune stops... fills up the progress bar in quicktime, but the firefox progress bar is only a fraction full.

when i try to d/l it, i get a file called 'index.php'

was disconnected while reviewing... good track for me, reminds of team doyobi, global goon and even plone, like that quiet energy, with either a slower fade out could be a good end-of-release track, or with an end like where the track is dismantling. liked it anyway :)

when this happens, you can normally rename the file "filename.mp3"

Sorry, but I didn't like this. I think the programming is good, but the sounds do sound a little cheap and plastic-y. Also had a very Japanese feel to me, which I didn't like. Sounded a bit too much like the music from Yee Ar Kung Fu or something.

Hey Chaosmachine, nice track. As iep said, very nice overlapping melodies. It is a bit over-the-top, but I'm guessing you were going for a very upbeat vibe. Don't know if it would sound better tuned down from "11" to "10", with more "normal" instrumentation rather than the "cheesy" sounds. I feel like I'd like it it was a bit more beguiling, if it drew me in a bit more instead of starting out so in-your-face.

Still, this is real music, as opposed to a bunch of cool samples strung together. Underlying the slightly ear-and-brain piercing (and deadly catchy) aspects of it, it's quite beautiful.

Very nice. Start making music again, yo. I keep wondering why more people on this board don't.

i agree with someone above that this track has the FM sounds much like from a sega; very nice and 'cheesy' in a fun and weird way. *props* to you, chaosmachine

I never come on here anymore but Im glad I did for this track...Downlaoded it a few days ago and just uncovered it now...just blasted it loud..

Fucking fabulous , thanks for the song. Melodies are great.

Would have put some ddeeeepp bass and lower shit myself, just for balance

Musically it reminded me a lot of Tim Follin from his 80s/90s days. I guess its that lead sound and the way you played it which makes me think like that. Yeah a lot of the sounds do sound kinda sidchip like big time. You got that whole old skool video game feel to this tune but its more sophisticated 'cause you've got some nice reverbs in the mix. I like the 707 beats - be nicer if they were more punchier in the mix though. Overall seemed to lack something though which I can't put my finger on. I guess I was left wanted more to actually occur. The essence of it is quite nice I'd say but for some reason its not really leaving a lasting impression on me. I think the problem which I've now realised is that its very samey throughout and that you need a change of sounds around and shift the direction as the track progresses. To me it does feel kinda unfinished in its current state as its all a bit too samey through out.
