Street apes wearing doll heads

Recommended Posts

The melted doll faces are disturbing enough. Still...would be pretty fascinating to see these in person. Don't think I'd give'm money though.

A kind of you“, a disturbing series about the world of street monkeys in the city of Jakarta, created by the Finnish photographer Perttu Saska. Trained and dressed as humans to ask for money to passersby, as is an old Asian tradition, these monkeys have now become real objects, even wearing doll heads to accent mimicry, turning them into real living toys… A cruel phenomenon that leaves a strong sense of unease…"

I read that thread title and thought this was about to get super racist.

As a pet owner, it's probably hypocritical of me to hate those photos as much I do, but they turn my stomach.

the chains don't make this cool at all

I was gonna say, the fact that the primates are chained up is more disturbing than the masks they wear.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

Yeah I've come around to this position.

This thread is a 55 gallon drum of nightmare fuel... those are some creepy, disturbing images.

ye guys, few monkeys chained up are so much more cruel, disturbing and awful and fucked up than billions of pigs spending all their life like this.

oh wait monkeys kinda look like humans, i get it now, that is actually p fucked up innit.

I have to admit that I get a little confused when non-vegetarians get upset at animal cruelty...

Good thing not every pig out there is treated like that then.

yea, only few hundred millions are treated like this

Yea, and the best part is no one is forcing you to buy that meat. Being able to choose is sweet.

But let's not derail this. This thread is about monkeys in chains. Which is totally sweet because reasons.

Nah, the whole thing is freaky as fuck, both in terms of uncanny-valley tiny doll people and animal cruelty. Still fascinating though, although I'm not sure I'd be able to handle a trip down the street in Jakarta while stoned. Or ever.
