RIDDIM is a brand new space that had a soft opening in Oakland
it has by far the best sound system in the entire east bay
even rivaling the rigs at the top clubs in SF, mainly because they packed a
Funktion 1 comparable system in a relatively small space.
don't miss!

if you do don't be shy come and introduce yourself. I look like a bearded idm guy right now. Doors will be open at 9:30 show will go till 3 or 4.

goiter, hopefully the first of many. This opportunity seems almost too good to be true so I'm crossing my fingers we get a decent amount of people and the club keeps operating. I am not exaggerating when i say it is THE BEST sound in the entire east bay, and you also wont find a club this intimate and comfortable with a low capacity with sound this good in San francisco. ITs hard to believe I'm going to do this tomorrow, even just so i can blast Aphex for an hour and half while im setting everything up on their massive 15's. The only place i compare the venue to is the upstairs room at public works, but i think this place has a much better atmosphere. The security is low key, and the 2nd dancefloor is also a smoking patio half outdoor/indoor, where you have no problem smoking copious amounts of things non nicotine

spd2, yes

Sounds great! I haven't spent much time in Oakland, specifically not after hours (I'm told it's not the best place to be after a dark). Pretty new to the Bay Area actually. Is my trepidation unfounded?

the trepidation is unfounded if you stay in the more populated areas of oakland after hours like jack london, uptown, old oakland, temescal, lake merrit, rockridge, piedmondt ave. There are plenty of very safe areas of oakland at night. There are unsafe areas of Oakland like parts of West and East Oakland that unless you live there you wouldn't want to travel through it at night by bike or walking, but these parts are no different from Hunter's Point in SF. In Oakland though we don't have anything like the tenderloin though, that's a pretty unique sleaze factor that San Francisco wins on for sure.

Man, now I really want to be there just for the AFX soundcheck session! The sound system sounds amazing by what you're describing.
