Plugin that FM's the living shit out of your audio

Description:

send audio to channel 3 and 4, to modulate the phase of input 1 and 2 (Vibrato at audio frequency)

try it with 2 sine synths, and automate the send amount. one more step toward your DAW becoming modular synth itself.

you can get loads of different results out of this plugin.

this plug is win32 vst at the moment. Amateur Tools DSP is always looking for portners with vision.

please post your sound examples if you manage to create some interesting noises.

no fm synth was used in this example:

Really nice work on this skibby! Here's my quick fist try with it:

My mind is sort of reeling at the possibilities.

alright, I'll take a look at A.U. but if you've got a copy of reaper installed, you can get some instant gratification today if you drop this in the JS effects folder.

the win32vst version is much better, but this will give you an idea of what it does, right inside your osx. :) and thanks for the interest.

Anyone know if you can make both mac & pc VSTs if you have the PC version of Max/MSP ? (or do you need to build the project on two machines?)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Ooh you're right, I did plan to wrap them as VSTs but I think if I save them as uncompiled .amxd it's cross platform (though only available for Ableton suite users)

Well, I was gonna see if I could reverse engineer/mod your plugin for both PC & Mac by recreating it in Max - Then wrap it as two VSTs (one for each platform) using Pluggo.

would love a mac version also, but i think it works great from what i've tried

one idea might be to commercially release something like this as an FM radio emulation. Put some kind of noise source in it, maybe a tone generator and have it be able to modulate not just 2 signals but up to something like 4 so the user could perhaps 'tune' between different radio stations and choose the amount of cross modulation between each of them.
After doing that Speakerphone thread i realized there is a huge void for this type of plugin out there

Oh neato. This might just be awesome.

How about a version that just FM's the left channel with the right channel on a stereo mix? It'll be more useful in programs where you can't route more than two channels of audio to a track.

If I'm not mistaken, Reaper is kind of an oddity for allowing >2 channels of audio per track compared to the other DAWs used commonly around these parts (Ableton, FL, Renoise). I use Renoise primarily myself.

wow, nice, skibby! will it work for Cubase? im using Cubase 4 for my DAW, and would love to try it (:
