trying to use gating/compression/distortion to make my drums sound more like drum machine sound or something. just trying to process them more in general. I originally wanted to make Swindon/Cavalcade-type drumsounds but not sure if it sounds that way

Oh, I thought that was a very distorted snare. xD Well. It's hard to give feedback when you're just going for chaos :P If this wasn't chaos, I'd say it needs a motif... besides the distortion. Maybe turn the distortion down a bit, so we can hear the other stuff in the background better. Maybe section off the periods where you have the distorted snare sound thing, so it's not continuous throughout, for more variety in the track. If that doesn't gel with what you're trying to do, don't listen to me. Heh.
