Guest Hanratty
I was listening to a track by Up! called "Spiritual High", an old Richie Hawtin track (sorry, dont know how to embed a youtube) The drums are completely 909 with a little reverb and it sounds great. If you wanted the 909 sounds but didn't want to shell out for some expensive boutique item, is there any good budget options? I'm thinking software, or, sample pack. But if it's a sample pack, is there any certain sample packs that are considered better than others, or are they all the same? andihow
http://www.d16.pl/drumazon this is the best 909 emulation i know of, pretty spot on if you ask me and it has really nice features like the ability to route each drumsound to a different channel and automation for ever parameter. you can use the built in sequencer or just use it as a sound module. probably the closest thing to owning a real 909 without having to buy any hardware. Guest Hanratty
I nabbed a free collection of 909 samples. Looks pretty comprehensive. If that is no good I may get that Tape909 collection. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/81134-909-on-the-cheap/#findComment-2087164 Share on other sites

Chris Moss Acid
Get an Akai MPC1000 (black one not blue or you'll have to change the pads) dump the sounds of the 909, there are literally millions of dedicated kick/snare/hats/tom variation samples around where you can make your ideal 909 kit. if you set the samples up properly its hard to tell the difference between a 909 and a mpc1000 with perfect samples.
