Aphex German interview from 1996

Recommended Posts

No idea if this has been posted - apologies if it has. I had a look and couldn't see it.

A 1996 interview with RDJ has been translated from german. Pretty good stuff

Yeah this is amazingly awkward and tense.

And this interviewer is way too serious...

So those who now only have a CD player cannot enjoy these subtleties?

No.

Is that not a bit arrogant?

There are also CD players that allow you to change the speed.

Hardly anyone has CD players like that these days.

DJs have these types of CD player.

lol 1996

Now it's just a simple click in Audacity to "switch speeds"

Yeah that bit about assuming his dead brother's identity always gets to me. So freaky man. Seems real too considering his reaction on that old mtv interview, where the foxy interviewer asks him about it, and he's like, really really disturbed by the subject. Of all the shit that seems patently false, that one thing seems...real?

Thanks for the link!

I'm listening to this right now and really enjoying it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-uJQhE3n_0 It sounds like its been slowed down in a modern daw, pitch is not changed. So if you slow down a vinyl pitch will change. If he composed at lower bpms do you think he made adjustments for the speedup to 45? Im not sure what you could do with software in the mid ninetys. either way it sounds pretty cool slowed down.

No, not a "twin", considering he was born (and died) 3 years before Richard (D) James was...
