Squarepusher & Charles Hazlewood vs Southbank Sinfonia

Was gutted I missed this earlier on in the year, though watching that video sort of makes me glad I did. Doesn't really work at all - you've just got the track playing really loud and with a tuning that makes the instruments all sound like they're all slightly out of tune (when you can hear them that is).

He should just have left the drums in there and let the orchestra play the melodies.

yeah i have to say after watching that Exile video and RDJ's remote controlled orchestra, this is a pretty epic fail. Those ridiculously compressed drums from this album do not go well at all with orchestra sounds too. Pretty much any older squarepusher song with real break beats would probably have been a better choice

Yeh the electronics distract a lot form the orchestral part - i'd say all of one or all of the other woulda been better...........

(Does anyone remember the interview with TJ during the first Sinphonietta experiment where he basically said he didn't see the point of doing it?)

glad everyone here is as baffled as i am. it all seemed rather baffling and confusing.

i love ufabulum but there's nothing about the songs that scream orchestra to me. it'd be nice to see tom compose something new or find something more fitting for an orchestra.

The orchestra are only there for show. There was no sound coming out of them.
