This judge should be disbarred.

Couch suffers from affluenza, according to his lawyers, a term which means that his wealthy parents pretty much let him get away with everything. The defense saved him from a 20-year sentence; State District Judge Jean Boyd bought it at his sentencing on Tuesday and gave Couch probation instead.

if affluenza can get you out of repercussions for your crimes, then povertosis should be just as legitimate, if not MORE legitimate.

As a rich person I don't grant you the right to have an opinion. Dreadful sorry, ma'am.

People, please show your family crests before voicing your opinions and witticisms.

No plebes allowed please and thank you

It's more like society is afflicted with lawyerfluenza, having money just allows you to wield it, like a weapon.

A member of the non sequitairiate.

This just really pisses me off. He basically got away with bribery after committing manslaughter. Maybe it varies with each state, but I can't believe how fucked up the justice system in the US is sometimes.

Someone of lower income would've probably ended up in the slammer for the next few decades, but all this miserable little puke got was a slap on the wrist. His parents should be ashamed.

I hope he gets a hard lesson one day on how not to be an asshole.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

Judge could have cured him right then but instead chose to spread the disease.

The notion of "legal precedent" in this case is fucking terrifying. I don't even think about how many evil, rich motherfuckers are planning on citing this case in their defense.

haha murder

Yeah I have to admit Stallone was pretty badass in that clip.

I'm still pissed about that Couch fucker tho. At the very least he should be stripped of all current income, which would go to charity, and then be offered a McDonald's employment application.

I cannot even begin to express my distaste with this country sometimes. Inventing diseases so the rich can kill the poor without consequence.

only one cure for affluenza, removal from the source of infection and exposure to people suffering from the opposite complaint.

prison is therefore the perfect place for him. the spoilt little shit.

Sums up the absurdity:

"Sixteen-year-old Ethan Couch admitted to four counts of manslaughter after he and seven other boys stole alcohol from Walmart, piled into his car and struck and killed four pedestrians while going 70 miles per hour in a 40 zone. One of his passengers remains in the hospital with severe brain damage, and nine other bystanders were also injured. Couch's BAC was a .24 and he also had Valium in his system."

I see a lot of crimes here that don't warrant probation.

I am, for my own sanity, avoiding any more thought on this outrageous case. I will say this - there is a possibility of an investigation into the decision by the Attorney General of Texas. There was another case of a death from a drunk rich kid who fled the scene initially was originally only a probation sentence of 10 years, but she did end up serving 180 days in prison. Not much but still better than the original sentencing which would have let her out immediately.

In the meantime the only thing I can do is drive as safely and as carefully as possible knowing kids like this are out and about driving like absolute maniacs. Deaths like this are frequent in Texas, even without drugs involved, because of reckless driving. This combo of drugs + priviledge + improper judicial action just makes it the worse. The fact is the stuff happens all the time. Best defense is staying calm and focused on the road. Once in my pissy early 20s I flipped off a guy who tailgated me, and he proceeded to speed up and brake-check me so violently that I was almost seriously wrecked (one split second in my braking and I would of smashed into the back of his truck). I've been almost hit by idiotic teens in huge trucks who were swerving and texting, and upon me honking at them they just laughed it off. Sometimes they grow up, sometimes they hit poles and eliminate themselves from the system. And sadly, sometimes they get away with killing people in the process. So just be wary out there folks.
