the very end of it made me think arp2600 with VCO 2 modulating the filter CV in, probably the single most awesome analog synthesizer sound ever.

Yeah ARP 2600 sounds about right, given the era. 3:56 to 4:15 was about all I could stomach tho.

Sorry for digging out this old thread, but I didn't find a more recent one of the same nature.

 

I've been wondering for a while if the synths in these tracks are the same and if yes, what synth it is...

Based on the 2 hours of my life I've spent with an ARP 2600, that sounds right.

I'm pretty sure that most of Aphex Twin's pads on Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and Surfing On Sine Waves are a DX-100.
