SO, I was just curious, why doesn't these forums feature a sub-forum for "The Future Sound Of London" ... They really should be here as they are up there with the best electronic artists/musicians/producers. I discovered them and got into them *after* BOC and aphex twin, but I feel I love them just as much. They are all amazing in their own ways. Shpongle and Flying Lotus are also gods... just sayin'! :music:

There was a forum but the fillings and then the bleeding into 'every genre imaginable' stopped all that.

BTW, isn't FSOL more of an 'ambient' group? And, wtf is Kurt Fn Vile doing here? No offense. No never.

Chief has been hittin' the lighter fluid ...AS OF LATE. Please xcuse...that stain upon your waving carpet.

Ah right... so that's why, because there already was one? Fair enough then... again, I don't care that much, was just wondering. Cheers (Y)

Nah just that when this place first appeared it was only the four Warp artists - Aphex, Autechre, Boc and Squarepusher. It's only relatively recently that it's been expanded to a few non Warp folks too. I just set up that place cos of my love of the group and the official fsol board had long since closed down with little signs of it returning

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

They're in UK

Oh so they are not just limited to London anymore, they've 'expanded' to the whole of the United Kingdom now have they?

Listen to "dead cities" and tell me they are ambient... They make fantastic ambient music, like in the 'environments' series they did but like Aphex Twin , they are defintatly not limited to just ambient. Like you said they have pretty much dabbled in most genres under the sun :emb: ... P.S let's get some of what you've been smoking. :watmm:

Aye, definitely not very IDM-y

you fuckin' plum

LOL ... thankyou, mcpete  OK here's the link to TRACK "Dead Cities" with a 480p version (because the 360p is just not good enough quality for music)...

(remember to listen in the highest setting ^^)

Admittedly they don't have THAT many crazy 'IDM' style tracks, and I don't like them all...but dead cities is my fave. I would recommend getting the whole album also entitled "dead Cities" as it's pretty amazing! ...even if you don't like the sampled track here, you're bound to like some of them from the album as it is quite diverse... :music::w00t:

Gary & Brian are completely unpredictable and that's why I love them. You don't see many acts that have encompasses so many vastly diverse sounds. Yeah there are a lot of great others, but damn I'm never disappointed with their releases.

Just another huge fan whom I met on the first version of the board back in the early 00s - He's quite well acquainted with the boys. Real sound guy, he's purlieu on here (not to be confused with 'pierlu' )

I've only known about it for a little bit but it looks great and i love to see such enthusiasm and info sharing about fsol since they're among my favorite artists. I came across it just looking up sample sources for fsol tracks and I saw your user name and avatar and I was like "oh, this should be lush." great job so far mate!

somehow i never really listened to fsol

the tracks posted in here (esp the 1st) seem pretty decent tho

might have to checkitout

I was in that boat about 2 years ago. Saw their name and heard of them but never invested my time listening to them (or rather *indulging* in them). "Dead Cities" is one of my favourite albums ever and is a good place to start ...either get the CD! or listen in as high quality as you can if you can find it online. I woke up today I put the CD on, it get's better with each listen. (I skipped "we have explosives" because It's the only track on there that I don't like!)

however, most of the album is pure gold!

Her face forms in the summertime

Everyone in the world is doing somthing without me

~My Kingdom~ (worth checking out the other versions, too!)

Max - perfect music to wake up to and start a new day!

Then there are these tracks towards the end of the album that sucked me into FSOL... just stunning beautiful masterpieces !!! Listen for yourself

GLASS -

YAGE - http://youtu.be/a7rQodEapqg :w00t:

VIT DROWNIG /Through Your Gills I Breathe

... And then there are the classic, timeless tracks from the "Lifeforms" era such as...

***"Eggshell"*** http://youtu.be/4g5Jw7WWsrA

"Cascade,"

"Room 208"

And also the "Environments" series ( 1 and 4 are my favourites) !!!

If that wasn't enough they have about 7 albums now called "From the archives 1-7" of previously unreleased tracks, some are just average while others are pure gold... and loads of singles and expanded versions of "lifeforms" and "my Kingdom"... just loads and loads of the best quality electronic music.

I fuckin' LOVE FSOL... Just saying... :music:

Enjoy!

this thread has gone on far too long without mentioning "papua new guinea" which is a completely incredible, crucial piece of music and also on accelerator which is the first piece of vinyl i ever purchased. lifeforms is rad and the accompanying ep even better. also isdn has some great moments.

  • 2 weeks later...

I dare say I did like some of the retro psychedelic sound design to their Amorphous Androgynous tangent when it came out but I think they backed themselves into a dead end career wise. The AA compilation series is excellent however I thought Gary Cobain made a complete tit of himself at the MOJO awards.

didn't they take one too many and become a neo-hippie act tho?

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

- lost cloud

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

You're talking about the Amorphous side project. FSOL still exists in FSOL style form:
