HELP with some headphones, please!

Recommended Posts

Guest Rulohead32

¿Are there audiophiles here? I bet there are.

I need some help with some headphones I want to buy. I don't have much time now so:

I want to buy these headphones (mostly cause I listen music in the bus):

http://en-de.sennheiser.com/on-ear-headphones-travel-stereo-hd-239

I don't know if they're great for listening at home and outside, I want powerful bass but clear highs and envolving sound, if anyone has these or similar headphones can you tell me if they're too small? (Sorry, I have no idea about headphones)

I also want to know if they're decent to make music on a PC, or if I should look for other higher-level headphones. I know Sennheiser is a good brand, but I'd like them to be good enough to enjoy music like deep electronica (bass and beats are so important), for example.

Thanks!! And sorry if I explained myself superbad, I don't have time now D:

Aye if you want really good (albeit slightly emphasised) Bass & Treble then the Sennheisers are definitely a good choice - Though as a result of this EQ bias, they're not great for making music. For that you want to get something like the AKG 270s upwards.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

How much sound do Koss PortaPros leak? Would I be able to use them in a library?

They're terribly leaky, You would be able to use them in a library, but you'd piss of everyone in the vicinity. This goes two ways, they don't block out any noise from your surroundings.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Audiotechnica ATH-M50

Woops, too expensive already :(

I was searching between 60-100 €, I suppose that price is when headphones start to have sound quality.

Sony MDR-7506s might fall into that range in the US... They're about £70 here... Extremely good studio quality closed back phones with a very flat response - make excellent production phones and also sound great for listening to music on the move - don't expect "huge bass" a lá beats etc, these are accurate reference phones.

Enveloping, I suppose. As those Sennheiser headphones I linked are a bit smaller than others to the ear, I don't know if they will surround my ear correctly or if the sound will leak.

Thanks, I don't really look for ultra deep bass, I just want the bass to be powerful and clear, without absorbing much treble or vocals.

That's what I've read... well, I'd rather not listen to music on the library than slam myself against a car while riding my bike. People on the bus will have to deal with it tho...

I hate earbuds cause they don't fit me :/

And I don't mind if they're a bit bigger, but I prefer them to be easy to carry in my bag at least.

I've been looking AKG headphones and they're a bit more expensive, anyway they will pay me the money cause it's a christmas present.

Sony MDR-V600

They are not very pretty, but if you don't care about that, they are the best headphones I've ever used.

Rulo, here are some Sony cans from the V6 family and they're just within your budget at 99.95 euro: http://www.amazon.es/Sony-MDRV6-auricular-Auriculares-Circumaural/dp/B00001WRSJ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388072566&sr=8-1&keywords=B00001WRSJ

They're extremely similar to the V600, 7506 et cetera that posters have been recommending in this thread, see Wikipedia.

I'd look into earbuds again, you can find some that will fit, I found that they never 'fitted' until I tried some by Shure.

Sound quality from heaven and completely silent to others, feels like you're in a different world.

When I want to make music, or just listen to tunes at home alone when it's quiet I use my open back AKG headphones.

Now these sound utterly heavenly, but if you try to wear them on the bus/ outside or if there are things going on around you, you can hear all that stuff too, so they're only any good when you're somewhere quiet.
