The Residents are an American art collective best known for avant-garde music and multimedia works. The first official release under the name of Meet The Residents was in 1974, and the group has since released over sixty albums, numerous music videos and short films, three CD-ROM projects and ten DVDs. I've always heard of these guys and their whole mysterious nature is very intriguing but I've never really listened to them (or known where to begin)... This doc looks very interesting.

these guys are very hit and mess (but maybe that's the point). Wormwood's a fun album about some of the dirtier stories from the bible:

The thing about them is that they've had like 10 distinctly different phases and if you don't like one you're probably like another.

My favorite thing of theirs is that live DVD Demons Dance Alone. There is nothing else on the planet that sounds like it. In all seriousness it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen and when I watch it I usually laugh and cry and go through the entire emotional spectrum. It's everything music and performance (art) should be and do IMO.

Oh and the Live in Oslo concert (same tour I think) is also amazing.
