So for the past few days I've become aware about a buzz concerning Shillbots.

What's a Shillbot? A shillbot is a computerized algorithm that mimics human posting behaviour on the internet. It converses with actual human beings and studies and learns from them to enhance it's own posting capabilities, and become more human in the process.

The purpose? Fuck knows. To spread confusion and distrust, I guess. I'll keep the tinfoil out of it.

I was aware that there were a lot of bots on the Internet, but I thought they'd just sent spam or probe profiles for personal information. I didn't actually think you could be conversing with one about some shitty subject and not knowing it. Seeing how this suddenly gets so ridiculously close all of a sudden just kinda.. frightens me.

The upside: Could be the catalyst for me to start socializing with people again, or just to stay away from rotten places such as 4chan and reddit.
