I don't really care for the EQ in Abelton 8, or at least I haven't gotten to like it yet and I've noticed I'm not EQing much at all these days.

So I am after advice on a decent EQ plugin. Something like the soundforge 10 graphic eq would be top notch.

Freeware is nice. Cheap is good. Pricey better be damn good.

or should I look more at the built in Abelton EQs?

How does EQ Eight not satisfy your eqing needs?

That's not rhetorical, I'm asking what specifically do you find lacking?

EQ8 should do you fine. If not, splurge of Pro-Q

A couple suggestions :

- http://dmgaudio.com/products_equilibrium.php : if you're looking for tons of curves and options (be it on GUI or phase response). Quite a fantastic plugin, not inexpensive... but worths every penny. And it eats Pro-Q for breakfast.

- http://sonimus.com/products/soneqpro/ : if you're looking for a "color" EQ. super nice sounding curves and very subtle saturation. Oh and damn fast to dial-in. My go-to on everything but drums actually (I prefer SSL Duende's Channel Strip for any kind of percussive sources).

I guess I just don't understand it. and I just miss how easy and great the soundforge eq sounds (to my ear anyway)

The dubspot tutorials are always grand. Here's their tutorial on EQ8 -
