The Notwist - Close To The Glass

The Notwist release their new album Close To The Glass in February, their first album since 2008's The Devil You + Me.

These guys have released a couple of true classics in my opinion, with Shrink and especially Neon Golden being great records. They have a great combination of glitchy beats and more traditional indie rock stylings. Think The Postal Service, but I prefer The Notwist.

If you are familiar with Console (check out Rocket in Pocket for another fantastic album!) you probably have a reasonable idea what to expect as well because Martin Gretschmann is responsible for the electronics in both bands.

The first track from the new album is up on their site: http://notwist.com/

It's a great record, leaving any obvious Amnesiac-era Radiohead comparisons aside, it sounds like a glitchier and darker "Neon Golden". Definitely less poppy yet many tracks got the "hooks" to guarantee you'll come back for more listens.
