Your favourite Ae... ringtone?

So now I've got a Sony whatever Z1 Android in my pocket and the first I had to do is choose a decent Ae ringtone. After some Dalglsih crackle stuff I decided to use a more conventional ringtone. Rpeg seems pretty decent. Some varying good to hear pitches.

Meanwhile I'm sick of that (fantastic) Mulholland "My heart will go on" recorder thing.

Inhake2 was my ringtone for so long that when I hear it I think my phone is ringing. For this reason I don't recommend using anything you like to listen to in other situations as a ringtone. These days my phone is always on silent.

i can't remember how to pick a track as a ringtone. plez hep meh!

The only ae I thought would be a good ringtone (In fact a guy at uni actually had it as his ringtone) is this -

mc - You're on android right? Go to your stock music player, play the track you want and press the menu button - there should be an option of 'set as ringtone'

Don't do it, I had Peaches from The Stranglers as a ringtone and it totally ruined it for me.

i've had melve for years. works very good.

Yeah, this is true: You've got to pick a track that's catchy, but one you rarely listen to as it really will spoil it. Mine is (as I basically never get round to hearing the album nowadays):

I have my phone on silent most of the time that its kinda nice every so often to hear my ringtone.

 

Just don't set it as your alarm clock, no no lord no.

I had Pen Expers for about a year, that was a graet ringtone, I might use it again.

Just a thought that occurred to me. Tracks from Gescom's Minidisc could be make nice message alert sounds.

Dael. Goz Quarter. Milk DX. the jumpoff moment in Blyz Castl also works well. their beat-centric stuff, generally.

 

ideally you want a track or a moment in a track that is sort of clear and strong, with not too much noodling or subtlety going on because all that is totally lost on a tinny-ass phone speaker. trying to use one of their subtle melodic masterpieces as a ringtone generally ends up sounding like shite in my experience.

excellent choice though I was just listening to Rattus Norvegicus and No More Heroes just today. I love that snarly Stranglers bass + keys sound. shit makes me instantly happy.

Another way is to go to yer System Settings (not the settings within any app) -> Sound -> Device Ringtone -> Add -> then choose the mp3 using a file selector.

The part starting @1:47 could be neat. But yeah, it'll ruin the song eventually.

 

 

 

My current ringtone is Todd's "Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?"-tone from the Breaking Bad finale. Noone ever got the reference. I'm too lazy to change it. Also my phone is 10 years old and doesn't really do ringtones, you can only use recordings you did with the mic, thus it sounds pretty horrid anyway.

I've never had a ringtone and never will. Don't wana be that annoying guy with the obnoxious noisy ringtone. Also the thing about it eventually ruining the song, yeah don't want that. :c Always and forever will be on vibrate.

Mine is Bike, works well as a ring tone. But yeah fucks with your head when the track comes on and you think its your phone ringing!

Only had one Ae ringtone in my life - P.:NTIL from Draft 7.30 (for no reason) on my old Nokia. Changed it pretty fast as it didn't work.

Intrigued to hear some of the ringtones Ae did for themselves. The only producers i recall who gave out some ringtones were Alva Noto and Oval, both shitty.

Ah yes done it, it had a music symbol i had to pick. now have it set to Black Cat - Broadcast

 

I may go back to the Foil track though if it gets too annoying after a while.

Alright thanks to this thread I now have Ventolin ...

i used to have various tracks from Prefuse 73 - Extinguished. worked well, i used to change it up so nothing got ruined.

 

using a track for an alarm is a terrible idea though, as mentioned. years ago, i used Flim for a few months and now i can scarcely listen to it.

I want some more "conformist" ringtones. Good calls here. Melve or Arch carrier are good, also Rpeg. Dropp also. I have Melve now because I listened rarely to it.

 

My "I feel like a rebel" ringtone is e3tfsd by Scald Rougish.

 

P:ntil is related because it has that door knocking.
