Thiefinger
Beginning sounds much like Vangelis' Blade Runner soundtrack. I like all the vintage drum sounds here. Like someone already said there, it has an 80's action movie feel to it. Maybe a bit monotous at times but mostly it evolves nicely. Rbrmyofr
The mix sounds a bit strange. Those toms that come in are panned a bit too hard left and right to my ears, and they're a bit too loud compared to the rest of the audio. Guest The Caustic Window
this one is badass. the beginning reminded me a little of D-scape by aphex twin and the synth riff was really energizing Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/82164-prototype-1984/#findComment-2123863 Share on other sites

peace 7
Pretty good, mang. Really good base, but here are my crits: I felt that the "pssh" chh on the drums interrupted the flow of the funk, especially in the beginning. Eventually the pssh melds, but overall, I think if it were only used at the end of 8,16 bars or something, it would add to less-repetitive structure and also allow for those 80's bassline tingos to flow more funky. PHUNK! My main crit, is that this could really really use a main theme melody the peak the mysterious vibes. It's good background music for like a walking down the street vigilante, but at the same time, it's almost a really strong main theme type track. If you can come up with a good lead melody to go over what you have to flesh out the theme, this track will be solid. For maybe some inspiration: [youtubehd]uB1NiNKwueE[/youtubehd] As for "my masterpieces" to check out- haha- here is a snippet of an old track of mine in a similar vein (sorta), but bit more post post retro phuture with less mystery: Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag http://nothinggg.com/UDAC-omnidaxinomitroniblastorium7000/UDAC-lazer-eyeballz.mp3 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide peace 7's signature Hide all signatures ▰ SC-nu ▰ nothinggg.com ▰ SC-old ▰ YT ▰ @peepeeland On 4/22/2014 at 6:07 AM, LimpyLoo said: All your upright-bass variation of patanga shitango are belong to galangwa malango jilankwatu fatangu. Guest gigasturtz
That bass line is real sick. The track definitely has a fully formed sound/aesthetic, but I agree with the poster above who mentioned that it can get a little monotonous. That's something I've been personally struggling with as well: how to develop tracks in a way that they continue to be interesting. Keep up the good work! delet...
It's not a complete track, that bassline doesn't vary throughout. So whilst when it comes in you go, "oh, nice play on the knight rider idea", then it just goes on and on in tedious monotony. Also, unless they are particularly noteworthy, intros will suck all the life out of a piece before it even has a chance to live, try to cut them right down if you have to have them, you still have the middle of the song to play around with if you want to drift off for a little bit but not too long. So in short, drop the intro and get straight to the funk. Build more of the song before you put it out there, don't just live off the one idea. And what 4d0lf (drums) and peace (chorus) said. Guest
I like this, bass grooves nicely, felt the snares could punch harder, but that is a taste thing. Good job.
