YEK
i'm thinking about changing from firefox to something else... firefox is acting strange for me, like here on wattem i can't see the smileys or other post ttype stuff and youtube is a terrific mess too with different sized thumbnails of shit on the main page and i can't view any videos at the momentthe only thing i'm stressing is transferring bookmarks to a new program. oh and changing themes on here is impossible because when i click that link at the bottom it's like hitting the home key, bringing me up to the top of the page Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/82517-internet-browsers/ Share on other sites

Joyrex
It goes without saying: make sure your browser is running the latest version, and all the plugins (not addons) like Flash are up-to-date as well. Are you serious? So browser makers should just stop improving the product since it "works well enough"? They're not changing it purposely so it demands more of the hardware, that's just how things work - think about the things your computer can do effortlessly that 10 years ago would have required literally a supercomputer costing hundreds of times more than a normal PC, or wasn't even possible due to limitations in hardware and software at the time. Another way to think about it - hardware is static - once a CPU's speed and maximum potential are set, there is very little that can be done to go beyond those limits. It's capabilites are frozen in time. Software is dynamic - it is constantly evolving, and as a result, evolves beyond the hardware's limits, so as a result, it runs poorly on older hardware. I suppose you could track down older versions of software, but it's also improved to fix bugs and errors that sometimes don't get found out until well after it's release - that's the point of ensuring you're running the latest versions - you're taking advantage of the (hopefully) latest software fixes and sometimes, improvements.
