Broken gifs look IDM, but what are they? Like, how does this even happen? Are they deliberately made to look like this?

I forsee some close races. I think a lot of these would be fun actually. I would take any of the 4 I picked this time around.

It's an image compression glitch often called "Datamoshing". It happens with certain video types and editing software, you can deliberately do but it doesn't always come out how you expect. Here's some tutorials (look in the youtube description/comments for software links):

Broken GIFs was knocked out last year by Bioluminecent trees. I think it was during the semi finals.

tbh i've been gunning for something really long winded & specific to when. Shades of not quite green would be a champ, but of course my money's still on the farmer robots

But why would robots farm, it makes no sense? Grow a bunch of veggies and livestock to not eat them?

maybe they're farming a giant underground fungal network to use as an internet device. using the internet on something mechanical would be weird & incestuous for a robot.

 

option b: they were programmed to farm by humans, and continue doing so even after all the humans die off. over time they evolve a fullblown farming culture

 

option c: idm doesn't make sense

So close, this is exciting stuff. Still rooting for aliens, solely because if I was abducted by them I'm not sure I would actually tell anyone either. I would be awkward, shy, fearful of how the world would react and generally it would make me weirder and more of an outcast than I am already ergo IDM.

In essence, they are fungii that interact symbiotically with plant roots. They are like plant root extensions.
