What is this mic connection?

Recommended Posts

So this guy I do work with has this microphone which he got from his Dad back in Italy. It's pretty old. And basically I have no fucking clue what these connections are, aside from assuming that the 3 prongs allows for a balanced connection. Anyone got any ideas how to get this working?

This is the end of the mic:

Which has the following connecting lead:

With this at the other end:

It's not a normal XLR because the ring has slight indentations, almost like a MIDI cable, and it's smaller than normal XLR too. Any ideas?

Here's the mic in case you were wondering:

Cheers guys.

P.S. That's not my carpet.

Think it's a '3 pin DIN', you can buy DIN->XLR converter plugs - something like this bad boy:

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

EXCELLENT.

I shall give that a go and see if I can get it working. Wanna see what it sounds like.

Thanks very much.
