NI software and 'region locking'

Recommended Posts

Just wondered if anyone could give some insight...

If I were to buy a US boxed copy of Komplete 9, and have it shipped back to the UK, would there be any problems registering it and using it here?

I don't think so... I know that it comes with a certain amount of computers you can install it on, if you haven't hit that number, you should be good.

If it becomes a problem, hit up NI. Just say you're Tiesto and you need to work in all your world-wide studios lol. they hooked me up with a free copy of Reaktor when I purchased BATTERY 3 from them and the disk came all fucked up and warped.

i've sold licenses across the world so i don't see why that would be an issue.

i'e heard of people having issues with software over borders, live i think, i dunno why, might've just been delay at customs.

fyi, unless you're in a rush or have a line on a great price, NI do big sales roughly yearly and also right before the new version comes out.

Yeah I had a big (well expensive) problem when I ordered a boxed copy Pianoteq from America - got slapped with a 40 quid customs charge which completely defeated the saving I would've made/reason for importing it in the first place

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

if I were to get it sent over to me from the US, I'd end up saving roughly £50...

hmmm

dunno if it's worth the hassle now tbh.

okay, thanks guise...looks like it'll probably be easier to just get it over here!

FYI

£0.01 to £15

  • No customs duty
  • No Import VAT**

£15.01 to £135

  • No customs duty
  • Import VAT due

£135.01 and greater

  • Customs duty due, but waived if the amount calculated due is less than £9
  • Import VAT due

Good info. Also worth nothing that import VAT is only charged if you import something from outside the EU. If you buy from any country inside the EU (and also Iceland for some reason, nice to know if you need VAT free volcano dust or whatever) you don't have to pay extra fees on top of the advertised price.
