Guest od++
Hello. I'm not releasing much at the moment, but I thought I'd put this up. Guest od++
Hello again :) Here is a sad little downtempo thing I wrote this evening Thank you Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/83357-orange-dust-human-condition/#findComment-2161747 Share on other sites
Guest brendyman
You're pretty good at this, I don't really have any complaints, except that "Regrets" was just a tiny bit muddy. Just keep doing what you do. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/83357-orange-dust-human-condition/#findComment-2161917 Share on other sites
Guest crowndicey
Pretty insane sounding. I like how you keep the composure of the progressions through all the chops. My only thing that I wanted to happen is for some repeats. Some of those chops have NASTY rhythms in there that I wanted to loop a few times in a row so you could really get down on them. Brisbot
Woah man, this is good! The way you glitch reminds me of Windowlicker. Guest od++
Thanks for listening guys :) noted about the track being muddy, i kinda intended a *little* mud for tone (if that makes sense) but I've overdone it haha Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/83357-orange-dust-human-condition/#findComment-2162315 Share on other sites
Guest
Nice beat & subbass work as usual Od, makes this bro headknod for sure :) . I'd like to hear a version where you cut down on the dblue glitch like stutter & scratch effects though, maybe leave it out altogether as it is getting a bit predictable imo. I know it is a style, taste thing, but used more sporadically, or with extra layers of processing could be more effective maybe. Guest od++
Well ha ha i see what you mean, but at the end of the day it is what I want to do; I would get very bored without the edits and programming! What do you mean by 'extra layers of processing' though? That is somewhat a nebulous term Edited May 10, 2014 by od++ Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/83357-orange-dust-human-condition/#findComment-2162343 Share on other sites
Guest
Keep doing you of course, we create what we want to create. That is somewhat a nebulous term With extra layers I mean trying to move away from a preset sounding 'like formula, have these type of effects every N bars (I guess inevitable with this style, something of which I'm guilty of myself when doing glitchy break music :-)) . I think this can be done through making the processes more complex (automation, re-sampling + effects iteration), less recognizable (stacking of effects, more elaborate chains), more gradual effectin' (take more time with the send level) & less predictable (1, 2, 3 , stuff happens). Predictability is something I'm trying to battle with my own shit, probably to anal with it :-) . Guest od++
Good stuff! It's actually very very random as it is (I have a process of completely obliterating a track with several effects units then replacing them and erasing them until I'm happy with the level of edits) but if it's sounding predictable, I'll work on it! The main thing holding me back is i have a few other methods that end up destroying everything beyond recognition and whereas that can work with downtempo stuff fairly well, with the breaks tempo I'm working with it gets too noisy too quickly the problem, as always, is finding the sweet spot, and then not just sitting there ;) Cheers for the heads up!! MisterE
lots of skilled stuff in there that i just wouldn't know how to do i feel like it would need something to push it over the edge though, like maybe some pads coming in towards the end or just coming in and out a few times across it i think some of the samples used to construct little phrases could've maybe been emphasized a bit, maybe with some reverb or something but these are all just my opinions, it sounds pretty good as it is Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/83357-orange-dust-human-condition/#findComment-2162351 Share on other sites
