Post em up!

First, King Push. Great production meets great rapping with that old-fashioned gangsta swagger. The production quality probably has something to do with him being signed to Kanye West's record label.

Since we mentioned Kanye. If you are one of those people that don't take his music seriously because of his celebrity image, you're missing out. Guy has a golden ear.

Eminem recently came back with a fucking vengeance. Very few rappers are really as technically impressive as him.

And, best for last, underground favorite Big K.R.I.T. just dropped this bomb on everybody. Even if you don't get rap, you gotta love when that first chorus hits.

Danny Brown is my favorite rapper as of lately.

Run The Jewels 2 is bound to be one of the best albums this year

Also Death Grips of course.

Most of the stuff I listen to is more instrumental beat tapes style... These 2 are the only Emcees as of late that I listen too that are fairly recent... Most Emcees I do listen to have been around for ages... I'll keep tabs on this thread to see if I'm missing anything.

Blu

Action Bronson

I'll prolly get some hate, but I really like RIff Raff. He cracks me up and I'm looking forward to his release on Mad Decent this summer

Plus this track w Action Bronson, the production by Harry Fraud is just beautiful

Action's videos usually crack me up, he always has some good food related rhymes too. He used to be a chef.

Also really like A$ASP Rocky. Beautiful production by Clams Casino on this one

I propose to keep this thread ongoing and pinned in the music section for all watmm time.

and a few years old but oh man

and of course

Yeah... I like riff raff but he's mostly hit & miss with me... and I agree with hautle on the bird on a wire track with action bronson... that track is actually my introduction to both... been listening to more action bronson obviously. oh yeah... jay electronica is cool.

^this dude Zeroh is a very interesting rapper. Lots of variation in delivery and he's just an overall talented vocalist.

^new school old school. Basement Dwellaz youtube channel is chock full of ill, old school vibing hip hop.

^i'm sure you're aware of the sample based rap project by flying lotus under the alias Captain Murphy. Awesome lyrics and the beats are basically the icing on the cake.

^if you count 2009 as recent i think you'll dig this. Back when earl and tyler were badasses. I wouldn't recommend any of tyler's latest stuff. Earl is still pretty dope though.

Another nice Riff Raff and Action Bronson Colab... Beautiful Lou beats!

Yes on Zeroh and Jeremiah from a boiler room last year. I watched that episode. mainly because my boy The Koreatown Oddity was on it... of course I stuck around for the rest.

man put A$ap rocky and clams casino together and they are a match made in heaven

i llike hiphop and i love A$ap rocky, got his 2 albums it has some meh and absolute gold on it

i don't mind the silly lyrics, but what makes this dude imo is his incredible stoned flow

smoke a joint and just blast this through your beast system and i garantee you are sold

i also love the danny brown old album, many diverse tracks, it's funny and its hips hop, sup!

of course good kid mad city and yeezus, fantastic albums!

edit: guess i don't like serious hiphop very much, if it doesn't have that pinch of humour in it (like freddie gibbs) it can fawk off

Really haven't been keeping up with the rap game in recent years, so I'm going with Gibbs... Piñata has been a good LP to return to, and you can't fault the Madlib production, of course:

It's a fairly uncompromising video in certain parts, I don't know if this might hold Gibbs back from greater mainstream success, or is this standard fare for music videos these days? I haven't watched MTV in years so I don't have a recent point of reference (do they still even show music videos on MTV any more?)
