Yeh that's better, haha. First heard some stuff by the guy a few years ago and he was making really nice textural sound arty stuff - sounds like he's trying to appeal to a wider audience with this one. wtf is up with that cover artwork though

Lifeflight is a part of Mindflight, a 40 min long ambient piece by him, you should check it out.

Leaving Records owner Matthewdavid intrigues me with this album just by the album cover. I'll hold off on the released tracks so far until June 30th.

These Brainfeeder artists really need to breakout and make a name for themselves by developing their own styles, hopefully this album will be a showcase of that.

Matthewdavid is a really cool dude, excellent producer and class act guy. He's one of those artists/label owners who will actually contact you personally, as he did during my epic shipping debacle when I ordered Disk II

Brainfeeder is Flylo's label, it's distributed by Alpha Pup and Ninja Tune and affliated with the Low End Theory and Dublab scenes in LA

In fact, Flylo sampled some early Matthewdavid songs for tracks on Los Angeles and they collaborated on a track on Matthewdavid's album Outmind

His label Leaving Records puts out some great ambient/textured tape music and he's clearly influenced by that type of music as much as hipi-hop. Not been to a show of his but some of his live sets have included him rapping and DJing old hip-hop and R&B. So that odd poppy track makes sense.

Also, I think that kid in the picture is his son. He mentioned in a recent interview being sincerely into new age and magick and kind of self-aware that he's, in the perspective of many outsiders, essentially in a little cult. So that explains the kind of hippie new age wtf artwork.

Yeah there's loads of really great stuff on Leaving Records, ace label. The title track is really winning me round actually, that's one seriously chill slab of summer lushness right there

loving how this sounds like its a sample (including the vocal) at the start. and you're wondering when the real track is going to start. then you realize that is him singing and this is the track. great trick

I'm really fucking tired at the moment and this is fitting the mood well so far.

That's my fault for not reading into what kind of album this is.

I expected instrumental electronic music with a lot less vocals.

I want to hate this...but I just can't. For some inexplicable reason it seems like he can totally pull this off whereas I'm not sure anyone else could. I feel like the overall quality of his back catalog/Leaving Records in general lends some credibility to the whacked-out hippieness/new age overload of the whole thing.

Totally, he's sincerely into new age hippie culture and mysticism AND the music affiliated with it. He's a big fan of JD Emmanual, M. Geddes Gengras just put out a new album with LR, and he's worked with Sun Araw in the past.

That said, I can see why this is meh or too silly for many. Nice, pleasant album...basically agree with this:
