Nah, you're a wee child who can't wait for official release. Embarrassing. Shove your privilege.

Pi is a dead giveaway. But it's tempting to mention Akira, District 9, and Inception as candidates.

EDIT: Cube and Schizopolis as well.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

Actually, 'The Thing' (1982) is probably a good shout for the idmz:

Everyone gets to don the North Face, it's set in a beautiful place out in the country, futuristic alien technology, bit of Chris Cunningham gore/horror in there... hell, there's even a giant cave. Toppest of lels all round, really.

Yeah... 2001, Pi, Primer...

What about Enter the Void?

Sean Ae yeah so many of these analogue forums are people 90% bragging ang 10% uploading tracks that go fdghfgdhfddhgasfgdsfdsahfdfhdsgfgds

Aside from films that have this style music on the soundtrack, these make the cut for me, a least visually:

The End of Time, a recent documentary I saw on netflix,

West of the Tracks, by Wang Bing.... although visually it's more 'industrial', these kinds of gigantic synthetic structures remind me of stuff I imagine while listening to AE, for instance

Holy Mountain.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

good selections thus far. My submission: Gattaca

  • everything is slick and minimal but also retro
  • there's a guy in a wheelchair
  • lots of OCD freaking out about details
  • protagonist is striving for a next to impossible dream as if the IDM man is right over his shoulder.
