Nils Frahm's single string piano

So piano's normally have 2 or 3 strings per hammer, mr. Frahm had one built with only one. The result is quite nice.

What's meant to sound different - sounds a bit more metallic on the higher registers, is that the change ?

it's like the difference between a 12 string guitar and a normal 6 string

it really shines on the fast runs and soft notes for some reason

I think the glissandi in the 2nd vid would sound a lot muddyer on a regular grand piano.

Didn't the una corda come before the piano as we know it today....? But yeah, they sound beautiful :)
