Nah, you're a wee child who can't wait for official release. Embarrassing. Shove your privilege.

I picked albums where the artist had at least an 8 year gap, Mike had a release 6 years prior but I can add it if there's big support for it.

random access memories actually.

syro is fucking great but it's a lot like the tuss and analord and that stuff still feels fresh. drukqs was also one of the greatest albums ever so it's not like aphex was forgotten.

human after all was pretty bad and really samey and it looked like daft punk were in a creative eddy.

RAM was filled with so many different things - you can't fault them for not trying - sure not all of it was good, but there was some amazing pop product in there. and great vocoder work.

portishead

And Godspeed You! Black Emperor could be added to the list as well. But I'll go with Syro.

The Verve -Forth.

11 years after Urban Hymns they nail a psychedelic immense album that for me was their best music of the lot. Seriously give it a listen if you like woozy slightly stoned psych rock

Portishead was probably the most shockingly original and musically successful reinvention comeback of all time though. Thanks for reminding me.

Voted Syro.

Portisheads Third is a great album though holy shit.

How about Seefeel? Their self titled album was a bit of a 180 for them but definitely delivered big. Or Kate Bush, performing live after 30 something years and apparently still awesome. IDM as fuck if you ask me.

Portishead and GY!BE both knocked it out of the park. Getting angrier and weirder in your "comeback" album helps IMO.

Syro is a great reintroduction to the Aphex Twin moniker, but AFX and The Tuss and the live shows with new material were recent enough to make the "comeback" narrative a bit more artificial.

Yes

And Daft Punk had put out Alive 2007 and did the Tron soundtrack so I was confused when people started saying "comeback" about them.

Just for a few days, I wanted to get the consensus of which of these heavily hyped & anticipated albums float your boat. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Positive Metal Attitude

Maybe because Alive 2007 hadn't any original song on it and because the Tron Soundtrack could have been an EP :emotawesomepm9: ? (jk, big fan of Daft Punk here).

Voted RAM as well because of how different it is compared to the rest of their discography + it really was a standout album last year - at least for me, I know it wasn't the case here on watum !

i like tomorrow's harvest, m b v and syro

afx boc and mbv are arguably my three favorite artists of all time

syro wins by a fucking landslide, it's not even close
