Where can I download 10 gigs of voice samples and not care?

Recommended Posts

I've looked around but to no avail. Anyone have some links for downloads to decent vocal sample packages or something? I'd prefer not to have to take samples from shit myself.

Cool. Wasn't there some site with a whole database of searchable sounds? I recall in being some private University site. I remember using it. Totally awesome site. You just typed in the sound you were lookin for and a whole load came up.

Just have pen and paper handy everytime you watch a movie and jot down the times where interesting samples occur.

laziness, lack of inspiration, no real motivation to make music? (i guess)

i have a little app on my computer that records all audio running through the soundcard, so i usually run it in the background while watching dvds. it's easy just to pause the movie, alt+tab, hit "record" and then sample whatever you please....easiest sampling setup in existance.

if you're looking for something more vocal, though, why not just sing yourself? most people have the ability to become somewhat decent in my experience, given enough practice. you'll find it more rewarding, and the music will reflect that. i sing pretty minimally in my own tunes (bass/baritone is more difficult to mix, and i suck in comparison to when i was in high school), but i've found friends and acquaintances to add vocals. i'd definitely recommend that over sampling some overused acapella (which is what you're likely to wind up with if you stick to free samples only).

I was thinking more in the vein of background talking; but you're right I could probably do that fairly easily on my own. Would just have to invest in a semi-decent microphone.

By the way, what's the program you use to record from the sound card? I've got an audigy 2 zs if that makes any difference.

mic'ing people on your own is fun. an sm58 isnt that expensive and is all you need...get a sketchy one off ebay, find a way to preamp it, and you're off.

also my iaudio's internal mic has hooked me up with some great backgroundy sound library stuff. great for crazy people on the subway!
