My friend asked me to do him a list of my favorite tracks from dinosaur jr. Thing is with dinosaur jr, at least half the songs are fillers. not bad but not great either.

I thought it could be useful for someone else.

Without a sound

Mind glow

Over your shoulder

On the brink

Outta hand

Feel the pain

Seemed like the thing to do

Beyond

Almost ready

Crumble

We re not alone

I got lost

What if I knew

Bug

They always come

Pond song

The post

Farm

Ocean in the way

Plans

Said the people

See you

I don’t wanna go there

Green mind

Blowin it

Water

Thumb

Green mind

Flying cloud

I live for that look

Muck

Hand it over

Never bought it

Alone

Getting rough

I’m insane

I bet on sky

Don’t pretend you didn’t know

Watch the corners

Stick a toe in

What was that

See it on your side

Thumb (live) whatevers cool with me

Where you been

Out there

Start choppin

What else is new

Not the same

Get me

Going home

I aint saying

You`re living all over me

Little fury things

Kracked

Sludgefeast

The lung

Raisans

Tarpit

Poledo

Dinosaur

Quest

Severed lips

Repulsion

Does it float

The leper

J mascis solo album:

Every version of: ammaring

Amma what now

Set us free

Say the word

Outside

Does the kiss fit

If its how its gotta be

Free so free

lol, indeed. If it would have been just me, all the songs on Green mind and Where you been should have been in the list. but for the sake of the exercise, I had to pick and chooose.

This list was really meant for someone whos not a big lover of rock. Hes a big electronica buff like me and I try to introduce him to dinosaur jr by showing him tracks more smooth, more emotianl rater then his more punk side, ect. I also think theres big ommission for your livin all over me, but I had to make a choice.

I thought that was a perfect list for a lot of guys here which is in the same similar situation then my friend.

This list has no prentention, its not the best songs, just my favorites.

Trying to get someone into rock/punk who is into electronic music... Well, here is how such a "gradient" formed for me (with subsequent merging of all genres and everything becoming IDM)... This is a simplified flow chart, but in my heart, this is how the flow goes (went), I suppose... (in forwards and reverse, simultaneously):

House <-> Disco <-> Funk <-> Gypsy Swing <-> Bebop <-> Blues <-> Psychedelic Rock <-> Punk <-> Atari Teenage Riot <-> Hardcore Techno <-> Industrial <-> Ambient <-> Classical <-> IDM <-> Jungle <-> 80's Breakbeats <-> (back to House)

HWAT... There is no freak scene under Bug?!

For bug, I should have added no bones before freak scene imo, Ive tried to limit my pick on the three first album as I doubt my friend is ready for that dinosaur jr period. Im much more comfortable recommending never bough it for example.

make your list. that would be way more interesting and kinda cool too. im interested!!!

dope J Mascis solo track that i heard on the opening sequence of 'memory screen'

i think there was a re-working of this on one of their newer albums, but i dunno...

My best mate was a massive Dinosaur Jnr fan. He was the laziest person I ever knew, and would regularly get up at 4 o'clock in the afternoon (and walk to the pub which was 2 doors down, sort of yawn for a few hours over a few pints before disappearing back to his pit) J Mascis vocals just seemed to fit his really lazy lifestyle perfectly lol
