Old BoC bio

I was doing some archive diving yesterday and I came across this old Boards of Canada biography from Matador's old site, which I had never seen before. It's another Goderich-produced piece and it's the longest one I've seen, with a lot of information on the pre-pre-pre-Twoism days. Very interesting read.

Very nice find. Damn I want them to release that box set!

Interesting that it mentions a full length Hexagon Sun collective film was in the works, I wonder if that's what these videos are leading up to.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

- lost cloud

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

-organized confused project

BOC's second album on Warp will be released in 1999.

At another all-weekend gig Michael consumed a large amount of Pro-Plus and performed a six-hour drum solo onstage from 1am to 7am.

hello! sounds like the story of the campfire headphase has been around for 18 years!

Yeah, I noticed that too. There's also fodder for those like me who believe the upcoming Redmoon event in the Pentland hills will be the real deal:

"In the summer of 1995 the band and their friends christened their studio in the Pentland Hills "Hexagon Sun", and the collective have continued their work on recordings, films and gatherings from this location. (Every year in the spring and summer Hexagon Sun hosts various small rural music gatherings, which attract many local heads.)"

He was the guy who ran the old BoC EHX site before it went offically to music70.com/boardsofcanada.com. All the discog stuff there (the pre-Twoism stuff) was from his personal collection.

Not exactly. Here's Crofter's original explanation above the pre-Twoism discography. It's not explicit but it sounds to me that he simply got the information from BoC and that even he has not heard them.

Pro-plus, caffeine in a pill. Available from your local newsagents. Signs of overdose include heart palpitations, sweating, panic attacks, and six-hour drum solos

What's interesting is that even on their most recent official bio it maintains they still occur:

  Quote
These nights, which the band still occasionally organise to this day, became known as ‘Redmoon’ nights after an early event which was dramatically backdropped by a blood-red full moon.

That bio was updated just last summer.

Hmm, interesting, guess so. Looks like he also wrote Benbecula's obits for John Peel and Ivor Cutler.

Steven McConnell = label owner

So is Beluga Steven McConnell? and what is Phase6s name?

from milkfactory interview with Steven..

"Do you have any links to Boards Of Canada?

Not a great deal other than Marcus [Eoin] probably gets the same bus into town as me."

"Do you get tired with questions about and comparisons with Boards Of Canada?

Yeah shut up! I guess people see the word electronic and Scotland and just make a juvenile connection."
