Dpek
Reminds me of Kleemar, nice pulsing beat, chilled to this in its entirety :) I recommend you go even further into textural science as details really lift up this kind of music - you know, cracks and screeches and a bit of muddy orchestral tones etc Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Dpek's signature Hide all signatures https://blazgracar.com Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/85802-one-day/#findComment-2254487 Share on other sites
747Music
This is really nice. So warm sounding. I have to second Dpek's critique. You have some nice textures already, but a little more work in that department would go a long way. Overall, really good work. lyst
The small details really do make this music I agree. I think the extensive work, like hours upon hours upon hours makes no sense for me. I'm not getting paid and doing it purely for fun, so if it sounds great to me and i'm pleased i'll just send it off into nothingness and enjoy it myself every once in a while. If I had some kind of incentive I could see myself doing that, but since this is purely for my own therapy and happiness-- why bog myself down? Also, I just don't have the time. Between my job, which is a time garnering career, and my girlfriend, who needs quite a bit of attention because she moved to this country for me and has no family or friends here... Just can't dive too far and become a hermit with the tunes like I wish I could. I agree with both of you though. And grateful that you listened and gave some thoughts. Dpek
Of course man, no need to make it a chore, it's your music after all :) Just pointed something out. But to be fair - textures don't take so much time to do. What do you use? Ableton? You can simply record yourself crumbling a paper or something and then slice this sample up - if you place it nicely into mix it would really add some nice details, plus it shouldn't take you more than an hour, even less. There is a common fear in producers that once they finish up a sketch of a track, hours and hours of work awaits them to make it a proper song which of course is the biggest misconception ever - many times there is just one or two very simple layers which would bring the track into its completion. Anyway, your song your rules, I respect that completely. I wish you all the best with your next material :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Dpek's signature Hide all signatures https://blazgracar.com Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/85802-one-day/#findComment-2254996 Share on other sites
lyst
You are right, it's not that hard with ableton. I came up with the whole second half in like 45 minutes. At the same time if you are looking to add small textures to every part of the track it could be a never ending process. Could take days, weeks. Get every sound just right and perfect. Especially if you don't have any time devoted to working on music. I guess it comes down to if I am pleased with it. If I can listen to it again without being pissed off about something missing or not sounding right- then fuckit i'm posting it. The difference between Amateur and Professionial can be found in what I did not take the time to add, i'm definitely willing to admit that. Why add it though if I'm already happy with the track? That's why A lot of times I'll just keep a improvisational part that may not sound exactly right in the song. To me it's more about right now what i'm feeling in the moment, not future gain or reception. lyst
Next time around, i'll try my best to hold off and throw in some more touches. No guarantees though! lyst
Ok did some editing. A bit more variation. And much better sound quality I think. https://soundcloud.com/mylamine/mylamine-one-day Thanks for all the advice. :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide lyst's signature Hide all signatures my choons. Dpek
Yes! Much better! It is full and round now I think - also in sound. How much more time did you spend on it? takuya
The string sound is maybe sidechained or overcompressed and it kinda takes away from the relaxing mood for me. It's a good tune though. Some nice sounds and textures. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide takuya's signature Hide all signatures ベアリーグッドタイム! You listen to guys like Clark and even his relaxing stuff can be gritty or sometimes sound over-compressed.
