Ae in Utrecht at le Guess Who 2014

Recommended Posts

So, did anybody else of you guys go to the show in Utrecht, the Netherlands, on Saturday?

I have only experienced Autechre live once before during the Quaristice tour. The set in Utrecht was pretty intense. Giving them my full attention was really demanding at 1:30 am after an evening full of quality concerts.

there ya go. it's pretty vanilla except some eqing and amplifying.

my goal was to record as directly from a speaker as possible, which turned out to be not that easy because of short arm reasons (sound didnt come from stage but overheads.)...

at 1.46 min there are actually some seconds missing because i hit the record button a second time accidentally :/ ...

i'll upload the original wavs later over night for people who are curious / PROPER remix-skilled.

Cheers, I posted it in the main thread now too. For clarity, here's the other recording made by user Quoth:

Two sources, both pretty much complete. Hope the remixing crew here can make something wicked out of this :)

Awesome! That's really good quality, a really great way to (re-)appreciate the set.

Great recording, really loving this. :music:

You guys are awesome.

Sean Ae yeah so many of these analogue forums are people 90% bragging ang 10% uploading tracks that go fdghfgdhfddhgasfgdsfdsahfdfhdsgfgds

hmmm this set sounds like a scaled down version of the krakow set. so many 'hit' moments are missing here in comparison to the krakow set. were they messing with the presets too much?

the 2010 tour was similar in its diversity and sometimes it sounded like a total shit, like the live in ljubljana (slovenia) for example.

also, i love how this live differs from the krakow one

Hey, thank jaderpansen -- I didn't do anything!

ups! :emb:

thnx, jaderpansen

The second half of this is really killer in a cerebral "these tracks could be great in an album" sort of way.

I'm listening to Jaderpansen's (thanks so much!) recording btw, the other one was a bit off to my ears.

not at all ;)

although i prefer the krakow set (cause of stronger momentum, more logical development of singular tracks and set in global, better separation and clearer definition of melodies...) this one is much deeper in purely intellectual sense (more complex/versatile variations and unpredictability of events which some of them you need to hear more than ones before making sense) and therefore maybe more suitable for home listening, imo of course.

holy shit, this is amazing. Dare I say better quality and a better set than Krakow? I mean just the inclusion of an additional very fucking weird DSP'd the fuck out AE song is amazing. Maybe too early to say which set is better. Anybody want me to bother with a remaster?

so, here be wavs:

it's two seperate files because like mentioned earlier i accidentally ended the first recording attempt prematurely. i thought i'd leave it like that in case anyone will want to fill the hole with quoth's recording for example.

having heard the krakow set shitloads of times i can kinda see where xox is coming from. well, human is a creature of habit, so it may partially be psychic but yeah, the fart-step (utrecht @ 10.32) never sounded quite so delightfully squelchy to these ears in subsequent sets to krakow, or the sudden burst into the power-trance part (14.09) quite as incisive...

then again there are parts that feel further fleshed out to me now, be it harmonically like the sega-glitch stuff happening shortly after said trance part or structrurally like the campfire guitar, formerly ending the set. also there are quite alot of welcome additions like 34.21 almost reminding of lego feet days as well as the total fuckedupness that is the new ending. also from an artistical point of view i think it's cool they don't play it safe and to hear just how much freedom their setup allows. overall i prefer this modus operandi (since 2010) to the more "riff-based" stuff from untilted/quaristice sets (that's not to say glasgow/hemsby/la are anything but fucking S- tier!!)...

anyway i think this set is pretty much up there with the big ones, and this version closely behind karow, which still takes the cake.
