Ninjatron
Looking for a plug in that would achieve VHS audio quality, or a video or sound clip which has been converted many times. Looking to get high fi samples to sound fuzzy and warm, worn in. Any tips in general? Also open to Reaktor ensembles... Ninjatron
Will check those out, thank you! Totally didn't think it was going to degrade that way, thought it would turn into a sloshy sound like a really low bit rate. I can pretty much exactly recreate the sound of that by using a vibrato, stuck on 100% wet and with a really fast LFO/spin rate, and then pitching it down slightly. LimpyLoo
compression, saturation, EQ and vibrato will do the trick just shelf the hi's...and maybeLPF at 12-15Khz and HPF at 100-200hz compress it with low threshold slow attack slow release....ratio to taste slow vibrato rate maybe 15-20cents yeah you could use a plug-in but you could also just learn how to build the sound you want from scratch Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/85822-lo-fi-downgrading-bit-reducing-plug-ins/#findComment-2255334 Share on other sites

MisterE
check out the free lowbit vst by concrete fx here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37290 lot of other stuff in that list, and i think concrete fx were doing some really cool stuff all those years ago. lowbit is a good example. at its heart it's another bitcrusher/sample reducer type thing but then there's a ton of other controls and things going on. it can sound really gnarly or more subtle. Great value for money for such fine sounding plugins (still have no idea how the bit crusher goes down to fractions of a bit, always thought it had to be whole numbers) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily. Ninjatron
Thanks for the suggestions. I have my own methods, kinda like LimpyLoo described. Often times I will create two of the same tracks and pitch them a bit different, then mess with some grain delay and phasing. auxien
Back when I was a teenager starting playing with electronic music I used to do a version of this by just speeding up/slowing down the .wav files just using the Windows wav player/recorder. Doing so multiple times degraded the sounds in grain-y/bit style ways. Worked best on higher quality files, but that of course required many more instances of speeding and slowing...
