BLOCKHEAD - Bells and Whistles

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Blockhead decided to go underground for his new album and quit (or was dumped by) Ninja Tunes. Personally, I love it, it's really in line with his two previous albums. For fans of Wagon Christ and some of Luke's more colorful grooves, try it, you might have a blast.

Up on bandcamp.

Loved what I heard so far, but god, that album cover is ugly.

Sean Ae yeah so many of these analogue forums are people 90% bragging ang 10% uploading tracks that go fdghfgdhfddhgasfgdsfdsahfdfhdsgfgds

Cor, that's an name I haven't heard in a while. If there's an album that completely reminds me of my autumnal start at uni all those years back it's -

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Same here! I remember when it came out, this was a great automnal album indeed. Him and Bonobo with Animal Magic were sort of exploring similar grounds. Do you also like his more recent albums such as The music scene and Interludes after midnight?

Haha yes, I have no idea why he chose that cover. The music is much better than the cover for sure.

These 2 are great! Loved Uncle Tony's coloring book too. Will have to check out this new one but yeah, the cover scared me at first for sure. For me he's one of those artists that gets better with each album but still remains way underrated. I mean DJ shadow and rjd2 shit the bed years ago and yet Blockhead still keeps on keepin on...

Will also have to go back & check the earlier albums as I haven't listened to them in a while.

Nice to see this posted on here at watmm, I'd heard that he had a release coming out on bandcamp, too bad he parted ways with NT but hopefully its for the best.

Aesop Rock instrumentals bonus 12" that came with it was pretty decent, as I recall

Great downtempo music can be rare these days, there is so much of it being released that many of these artists kind of sound similar after a while... But Blockhead, I feel, is doing his own thing, not following trends but rather getting better and better at it. Plus he's a cool guy in interview, no big ego at all, that's always a plus! :)
